For its innovations, it has been recognized in many competitions, most notably, it won the Microsoft Imagine Cup. Creating such an innovative product is hard enough – and even harder when you have to market it to a very demanding and safety conscious group of potential customers - motorcyclists.

  • Rarog was a novel way for Zercado to get cost-effective, high-quality traffic to their website.
  • It enabled the team to engage in conversations with their customers and convince them to subscribe to the newsletter.
  • The twitter campaign generated a lot of additional reach and attracted niche bloggers and influencers who covered Zercado on their websites.

Problem

Zercado is a hardware startup that has created the first intelligent motorcycle mirrors that automatically adapt to the rider’s body position. For its innovations, it has been recognized in many competitions, most notably it won the Microsoft Imagine Cup. Creating such an innovative product is hard enough – and even harder when you have to market it to a very demanding and safety conscious group of potential customers - motorcyclists. Google AdWords and Facebook Ads proved to be ineffective and unsuccessful, generating excessive costs and producing very few new leads. Zercado needed a reliable and repeatable way to gain new leads and potential buyers ahead of their Kickstarter campaign.

Solution

Understanding your customers is the key to every successful marketing activity. Our first step was to create a perfect buyer’s persona - a motorcyclist who is available on Twitter, is open to new and innovative products, and has other important and necessary characteristics. Using our algorithms and appropriate methods, we created a first list of over 2200 leads on Twitter. The next step was then to create a compelling message. Finally, we engaged the users in conversation, showing them the benefits of the unique solution that Zercado provides.

For a fraction of the cost of advertisements, Zercado has been able to reach numerous high-quality leads and encourage them to click and go to the website. What is more, the campaign has generated a lot of positive feedback - replies, retweets, likes - further increasing the reach without any further costs. Additionally, several well-known motorcyclist bloggers have covered Zercado on their websites. The main goal of the campaign has therefore been achieved - Zercado has collected over 200 emails and a huge amount of positive feedback. The advantage over normal ads in terms of quality of return was substantial.

What is Genoomy?

Genoomy helps you understand your DNA and your own health. They have brought an easy tool to engage people into genetics and present simple and user-friendly interpretation. You could say that Rarog was made for Genoomy. It was really hard to reach right customers by traditional ads. In fact Genoomy is the first client Rarog ever had. We really built Rarog for them. And it help us learn a lot!

Genoomy

  • Rarog was able to find the group of people most likely to buy a specialised product.
  • Genoomy could target precisely the people who were interested in genetic tests and reach out to them with customised tweets. In case of any questions, the team could respond quickly.
  • The campaign generated a number of first sales in a hard to reach niche market.

Problem

Genoomy needed to find early adopters and initial paying customers. Doing this was a challenge because the product was unknown, with no social proof. They had to convince people to give them some very sensitive information.

Solution

Recognising that their potential customers were people who previously performed DNA tests and then tweeted about it, we were able to find a few dozen such people on Twitter, people who in the past few months had shared information that they performed a DNA test. They turned out to be great early adopters of Genoomy.
